Balta Carpets at J40 Wakefield
BALTA was begun by Paul Balcaen in 1964, with the business’ name made up from the Belgian Balcaen TApijten, translating to Balcaen Carpets. Balcaen’s family previously worked in the Flax industry strong in West Flanders, Belgium. In the 1950s when the flax market collapsed his family turned their expertise to textiles instead.
Broadly speaking Balta is known for broadloom tufted and woven carpets manufactured in polypropylene (PP) and wool.
There are three collections. Stainsafe, with the ability to be bleach cleaned; Sensit, a luxury product with a shiny soft pile and X-Tron, designed for more commercial markets, with heavy footfall in mind.
Mainstay carpet products include 100% pure new wool carpeting and 80/10/10 wool twist carpet, with Woolmaster branding.
For the home environment Balta also offers carpet tiles in two sizes; 50x50 tile size and the MIXMAX tile offered in 100x25 plank.
In 2017 Balta updated one of its most popular products with contemporary colour paletting, the Gala & Stripes PP Stainsafe, used frequently as on-trend stair carpeting, the horizontal striping draws the eye up the line of the stairs. We have no doubt this will be a popular purchase at our Wakefield Carpet shop and are happy to present BALTA carpeting in Yorkshire.
